2025: Home of the ‘Waters of Immortality’ and a once sought-after recreation destination in the USSR, over a dozen palatial sanatoria now remain almost abandoned in a state of terminal decay. Home to Abkhazian refugees for a while, who stripped out fittings including most of the parquet floor tiles that offered handy sized firewood.
