SVALBARD

An archipelago between mainland Norway and the North Pole known for its terrain of glaciers and frozen tundra that shelters polar bears, reindeer and Arctic foxes. It's home to abandoned whaling outposts and Russian coal mines, and was the base for multiple doomed expeditions to the North Pole.
